The Third Island

The Third Island was created in the spring of 2010 as an exam project at the The Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts, by Bente Rolandsdotter, costume designer, and Katja Frederiksen, stage designer. The installation focused on creating a narrative space without actors or manuscript; it was assembled in a 10 metre by 10 metre space from disposable elements, second hand clothes and throwaway paper plates, building caves and surfaces into an underwater world of strange plants and corals. A magical environment in which the spectator drifted between the fulfillment of a fantasy and the revelation of the simplicity of the materials used.
