Katja Ebbel works as an artist, scenographer and costume designer, with an international focus. Her work crosses the boundaries between different disciplines, from more experimental sculptural works and installations, to more traditional scenic work at larger theatre institutions. Her artistic work, in combination with her technical education as a scenographer and costume designer, makes it possible for her to move freely between sculpture and installations, costume design, scenography, drawing and illustration.

Katja Ebbel has a BA in costume design from The National Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo, and BA in set design from The Stockholm University of the Arts. In recent years she has been working in major theatres cooperating with renowned directors like Christian Lollike, Marius von Mayenburg, Gisli Örn Gardarsson, Kjersti Horn, Eline Arbo, Stephan Braunschweig, Oskaras Korsunovas, Yvo Mentens, and Rebekka Nilsson in theatres in Norway and abroad, such as the National Theatre in Oslo, The Norwegian Theatre in Oslo, The National Ballet in Oslo, The National Stage in Bergen, Kopergietery in Gent, Belgium, Borgarleikhus in Reykjavik and The Royal Theatre in Stockholm, and Theater Bielefeld in Germany.
